Meghan Petricka
Meghan Petricka was born in rural Montgomery, Minnesota and is the youngest of seven children. Always a fierce competitor, she participated in numerous art contests, and was very active in sports and dance. As an avid outdoor enthusiast, she spent countless hours fishing in many of the Minnesota lakes, tapping sugar maple trees in the local forests, and gardening with her family at home. She learned from a young age the many benefits of a strong relationship with, and connection to, the natural world.
During her early career as an artist, Meghan received numerous awards for her poster designs and illustrations. Meghan soon learned how to merge her graphic design proficiency with biophilic design principles as a project manager at a landscape design firm.
Over the next decade, Meghan would design and oversee the development of topiaries, greenwalls, and various implementations of botanical design. Working together with her husband and lead fabricator Christopher, they created immersive natural environments that blended seamlessly with architectural spaces. Together, they successfully executed over 500 projects worldwide. Meghan's commitment to sustainability, and understanding how to achieve harmony between the natural and built environments, propelled her career to new heights.
Meghan's talent and reputation in the design industry caught the attention of HGTV/Discovery+ when she was recommended by her previous collaborators several times. After being approached by the production company, she was selected to participate in a design competition. Meghan appeared on season one of the series Clipped, a topiary design contest featuring seven contestants. Her innovative approach to topiary design set her apart from the other contestants, captivating both the judges and the audience. After weeks of fierce competition, she was named the top topiary artist and winner of the contest by celebrity judge, Martha Stewart.
Currently living in central Minnesota, Meghan and Christopher live La Vida Verde while caring for over 100 indoor tropical plants, and overseeing the propagation of hundreds of others. They can be found fishing, hiking, and foraging within the surrounding forests and lakes, or listening to vinyl records while working in their garden. They are currently balancing multiple design projects.
